DTS Upgrade Press Release

Lexicon Announces DTS Option For The DC-1 Controller

Bedford, MA...(May 15, 1997): Lexicon, Inc., a Harman International Company, has announced that the company has taken the first steps in bringing DTS Technologies' 5.1 discrete multi-channel technology to existing and future owners of Lexicon's DC-1 Digital Controller.

Buzz Goddard, Lexicon's Vice President of Consumer Products, praised the development. "DTS is proving to be a strong alternative format in discrete multi-channel decoding for the demanding audio- and videophile. Lexicon is committed in bringing new digital technologies to our existing and future customer base, as was shown with the introduction of our DC-1 Digital Controller in 1996 and the subsequent AC-3 upgrade option."

Although product roll-out plans are scheduled for September 1997, Goddard states "Lexicon's development team is already implementing various circuit approaches for evaluation and final approval. We are working diligently with DTS to have the upgrade option for the DC-1 Digital Controller available in time to meet the ensuing consumer demand."

Available as an upgrade to existing DC-1/Dolby Digital owners, the cost will only be $495.00. For consumers who are buying the DC-1/Dolby Digital Processor and want to include the DTS Upgrade, the total retail cost is $4,995.00.

Lexicon, Inc., a Harman International Company, has been producing landmark electronic components for both the professional audio and consumer home theater markets for twenty-five years. Today, Lexicon continues to lead the way with acclaimed audio/video products taking the art and technology of home theater another significant step into the future.
