Bathed in the neon purple of the Philips display we have the Philips DVDR1500 DVD+RW recorder, which is Philips top of the line DVD recorder and comes complete with a Pronto PRO remote control. Product highlights include two-way compatibility - plays your existing library of pre- recorded DVD and CD discs, while the DVD discs you record play on existing DVD-Video players, i.LINK so that you can connect DV and D8 camcorders and PCs with digital video editing facilities via the Digital Video input for the best possible video quality, component video inputs, index picture screen which automatically creates a screen menu with an index picture of each recording, PC compatibility that uses the same discs as DVD+RW drives in PCs, progressive scan and VCR Plus+ timer programming.

This is the DVDR1000, a machine with pretty much the same features as the DVDR1500 but it's not supplied with a Pronto PRO.

Tucked away on a wall not attracting much attention was this late addition to the Philips display. This is the European (PAL) Matchline HDR 1000 combined DVD player and hard disk recorder - the Philips representative nearby did not really know much about it but guessed that a US version might be available "some time this year".
