Panamax New from surge protection specialists Panamax is the MAX 5510 ACRegenerator, which replaces the MAX 2000 in the Panamax line-up. The 5510 features four AC outlets providing either “Isolated” or “Balanced” power for digital source components, such as DVD or CD players and a four more outlets using separate “balanced double L” filtration circuits to eliminate EMI/RFI for analogue components. A further two inductor-less, high-current outlets provide power for amplifiers or powered subwoofers. It also has line level A/V signal protection with 2 pairs of RCA connectors and circuits are optimized for audio and video signal line protection.
Also on board is Panamax’s SurgeGate Plus circuitry – a power monitoring system that acts as a gate to prevent unsafe voltages from damaging equipment. It automatically detects a prolonged over or under-voltage condition and disconnects the power to equipment, then reconnects it when the power returns to a safe level. Several convenience features are also included: a detachable gooseneck lamp with dimmer control to provide lighting for A/V equipment. The lamp can be connected to front or back panel for better work area illumination; two DC Voltage trigger inputs for initiating a start-up/shut-down sequence. Backlit, analogue voltmeter and ammeter indicate line voltage and current draw; On/Off, dimmer control on front panel. Available now, MSRP $1,299.
Panamax products for home use are now available with silver coloured front panels to match the current trend away from black faceplates to silver/aluminium. []
