Two of the new products introduced by Philips at their press conference on January 8th. On the top one of the new DVD recorders, the DVDR80. All three continue Philips’ support of the DVD+RW format and allow consumers quickly and easily to transfer video from a camcorder to permanent DVD+R or rewritable DVD+RW disc.

The DVDR80 is the top of the line Philips DVD recorder and several ease-of-use features including point and click programming through an on-screen TV guide and i.LINK™ (aka Firewire) digital connections from their camcorders. The DVDR80 also features a disc manager, which allows instant viewing of all recorded discs. In addition, the DVDR80 utilizes a motion-compensated noise filter to reduce noise in recordings from analogue broadcasts and other sources such as old videotapes. The DVDR80 also features Progressive Scan with Faroudja’s DCDi™ processing. The DVDR80 will be available in April and will have an MSRP of $ 799.
Also announced were the DVDR75 with a more limited feature set than the DVDR80 – VCRPlus® rather than an on-screen guide, no disc manager and no DCDi™ processing. The DVDR75 will be available in March with an MSRP of $699.
Third is the LX9000R - the first home theater system to offer DVD recording featuring a high performance DVD+RW recorder boasting six hours of recording per disc from a wide range of video sources, including the integrated TV tuner. The LX9000R also features “twin subs” that have the subwoofer integrated into the speaker stands. The LX9000R will be available in Autumn 2003 at an MSRP of $1,299.
The unit at the bottom in the image above, is one of Philips new digital television receivers, the FTR9964, that accompanies Philips Flat TV range. []
